It was a peaceful afternoon in February 2022, as the winter sun bathed the premises of the Sainte Claire Church in Frères, the Charlemagne Péralte scout group, a troop of 30 boys and girls aged 10 to 16 prepared to embark on a unique experience—far more than just a routine training session organized by the Sante TIFI foundation. For them, this session wasn’t just another group activity but an opportunity to grow together, learn about themselves, learn how to support , and uncover hidden abilities.

As part of this training, key modules were delivered in 30-minute rotations, offering each participant an engaging and hands-on experience in themes critical to their personal and social growth. These sessions were meticulously designed to empower the scouts with knowledge and skills that would resonate far beyond the walls of the training venue, equipping them to navigate challenges both within their communities and in their own lives.

The session began at 3:00 PM with a profound discussion on gender-based violence, led by Azor Kemly Carl. Far from being a mere lecture, this discussion created a safe space for the scouts to voice their thoughts, share experiences, and gain practical strategies to identify, prevent, and respond to injustices in their environment. It not only raised awareness about an urgent societal issue but also cultivated a sense of responsibility and courage among the young participants to stand against violence and inequality.

Following this, the scouts explored a module on puberty and hygiene, facilitated by Lisa Bonhomme and Chrystelle Charles. This session tackled the often sensitive subject of bodily changes with sensitivity , providing the scouts with vital knowledge about their physical and emotional transformations with a particular emphasis on the menstrual cycle. By addressing these topics openly, the facilitators demystified the natural processes of growth, fostering confidence and self-acceptance among the scouts. This module was particularly impactful, as it encouraged the participants to view these changes not as challenges but as milestones in their journey to adulthood, ensuring they had the tools and understanding to take care of themselves with dignity and respect.

This module laid the groundwork for the next pivotal session by Tayana Jean Pierre, which crowned the discussion with a focus on self-esteem and confidence. In this follow-up, the scouts were guided through activities and discussions that encouraged them to reflect on their unique qualities, express their aspirations, and build a positive self-image. This session emphasized the importance of valuing oneself, especially during a stage of life often filled with self-doubt and change. By connecting these two themes, the training empowered the scouts not only to understand and embrace their growth but also to cultivate a mindset of self-worth and resilience that would serve them well in all aspects of their lives.

Together, these sessions emphasized the importance of informed, proactive, and empathetic approaches to personal development and societal issues, laying a strong foundation for the scouts to become resilient, knowledgeable, and compassionate members of their community

Leadership and civic action workshops, led by Charlemagne G. Plison, inspired the young participants to contribute positively to their community, while a session on self-esteem offered a precious moment for them to share their dreams and aspirations.

To conclude the session around 6:00 PM, Achemine Moise, introduced an unexpected and joyful workshop: cupcake decorating. This moment of creativity brought a lot of joy—after all, who doesn’t get excited about sweet delicacies?

That day, the scouts of Sainte Claire left the premises with light hearts, enriched with new skills and enhanced self-esteem, ready to face the world with the courage and kindness of true scouts.
